Craig Ferguson, Ernie Kovacs and a McVicar sketch

I recently did my 17th appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.  It is always fun to be his arch rival.  This parody (or homage as I should describe it) always works well and the best part is the joy that we both have working it.

Craig has been doing his show for several years now, and I am always enchanted by his creativity and how he has made this form his own.  He is compared sometimes to Jack Paar but his experimentation with the show reminds me of Ernie Kovacs.

following are three videos…two from the show last night and an Ernie Kovacs classic.

    Hello:
With all due respect, Craig Ferguson is good, but, he is no Ernie Kovacs. Realistically, no one is. Let’s say, for example, the sketch from Kovacs, “In Anticipation of Romance” on You Tube. How can you say Mr Ferguson (or any current broadcast comedian) is doing even close to that on todays tv? I really fail to see where you find this connection? Could you elaborate?
